Mobile cheque deposit

There is a £500 individual limit on individual cheques. Personal customers can deposit upto £750 per day. Business customers can deposit up to £2500 per day.

The cheque imaging process is quicker than the traditional system. Cheques deposited before 10pm on a working day will be available by 11:59pm the next working day, provided the cheque has not bounced. You can see when your money is added to your account by using the HDBC Mobile Banking App.

If there are any problems with your cheque deposit we’ll contact you. Please retain the cheque until the money is available in your account.

To scan and submit a legible image you must:

1. Place the cheque flat on a dark, unreflective background/surface.
2. Enable the cheque deposit feature on your device and hover over the cheque with it.
3. Ensure the image is in focus and the whole cheque is visible inside the red box on the screen.
4. The image will be captured automatically.

Personal customers will not be charged for mobile cheque deposit. However date rate charged may apply which might be charged by the mobile cheque provider.’

Business customer cheques deposited using the HSBC UK Business Banking app will be charged 50p per cheque for a Small Business Bank Account or a Business Bank Account, or 40p for a Charitable Bank Account. There will not be a branch credit charge.

Any other tariff will be charged the normal cheque collection fee.

Cheques deposited in a branch, paying in machine or Post Office branch, will be charged for each cheque in accordance with your agreed tariff. For more detail see our Business Price List (PDF, 1.30MB)
